Solid Rock Camp & Retreat Center
PARENT OR GUARDIAN INFORMATION
Check in occurs from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier than that. If you must check-in later than 5:00 p.m., please call the office to make arrangements. Once you have checked in, you may take your camper to his/her cabin to drop off gear and meet the counselor. The camper must be with you during check-in.
Please be sure to bring the following items to check-in:
~ Balance of the registration fee (if any)
~ Spending money for the trading post ($10-$15 should be more than enough)
~ Completed medical examination form (if needed)
~ Medications (in the original, labeled bottles) and Medication Authorization forms for each medication -
including over-the-counter medications. (If needed)
~ Copy of camper’s immunization record or a printed copy of the exemption form you completed at the Colorado Immunization Branch website if your child is exempt from immunization (see the next section).
Health and Safety
Each camper is required to be examined by a physician or nurse practitioner WITHIN 24 MONTHS prior to the camp start date. The physician’s signature is required on the last section of the Medical Examination Form. (A school sports physical report, less than 24 months old' will also suffice and may be provided in place of the Medical Examination Form.) Medical examinations will be available at camp. We also need a copy of the camper’s immunization records, or if he/she is exempt from immunization, please complete the exemption form on the Colorado Immunization Branch website, print out a copy and bring it to camp check-in.
If your child has had a fever within 24 hours prior to coming to camp, or has displayed any flu-like symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sore throat, runny nose or fever, we ask that you contact us and keep them under observation at home, and then join us when (s)he is symptom-free.
We need to know of any food allergies or restrictions AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (at least two weeks in advance) so we can plan ahead. Please email us in advance, before your camper arrives at camp, to let us know of your camper’s needs. For severe dietary restrictions, you may be asked to supplement some food items.
Visits and phone calls home can take away from the total camp experience and disrupt the continuity of the camper’s program. We request that campers be contacted by mail rather than telephone or email. If an emergency situation requires that you contact your child, please call the office. Generally, we discourage campers from calling home.
If you wish to send your camper a letter or package, please address it to:
Solid Rock Camp
2728 Lower Twin Rocks Road
Florissant, CO 80816
Be sure that you send them early enough that they will be received before the last day of camp.
Please note! In cases of repeated, severe and/or dangerous misbehavior or disrespect for staff or other campers, your camper will be removed from further camp activities and you will be contacted to come pick up your child from camp. In such cases, no refunds will be given.
Discovery Camp ends at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. You are welcome to join us for our barbecue lunch at 12:30 followed by our closing event. Adventure/Challenge Camp ends at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. You are welcome to join us for our barbecue supper at 6:00 followed by our closing event. Please let the office know in advance if you will be coming for the meal.
If you will not be picking up your camper and wish for someone other than a parent to pick him/her up, you must note on the registration form (online or pen-and-paper) who is authorized to pick her/him up. Pickup authorization must be made in writing, and must be completed prior to pickup.
Please pick up your child from his/her cabin. The counselor will give you a check-out ticket which you will then bring to the checkout table where you will also pick up any left-over spending money, medications, camp picture, and lost-and-found items.
